Hi All - my first post!
I have switched to the British Gas capped rate till 2009 on the Energy helpline website yesterday.
I know that it will take 6 weeks to take affect/get contracts sent out etc but am wondering how long it takes for the Energy helpline to get in touch with British Gas so I can be sure that I will not miss out on this deal if they put there prices up in the meantime.
Does my application on the Energyhelpline website mean I have secured this offer?
Any advice greatfully recieved.

U should have applied to switch via a cashback site. i.e quidco or cashback kings and then u would have got 55.00/60.00 cashback assuming u are switching dual fuel.0 -
Energy helpline give £15 cashback and is the site recommended on here for being reliable so thought I would go for that one.0

Does my application on the Energyhelpline website mean I have secured this offer?.....I assumed you did this online so as long as you got a confirmation from BG you will be ok.0

Yes, if you signed up to it today then you have secured the deal, unless something goes wrong with the transfer (your current supplier block the switch or something) then you should be fine even if the BG fixed price deal is removed in the meantime.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0

I switched with Energyhelpline a few months ago and although on there side evrything is arranged they have no control on how soon the receiving company get things set up. Energyhelpline are very helpful, I contacted then 10 days after applying and got them to confirm when my details had been passed on to the new supplier. I then rang the new supplier and had it all set up with meter readers re-confirmed over the phone and transferred over in 3 weeks.
It was in my interest to ensure a swift changeover so I guess a bit of chasing didn;t harm anyone!0
