HELP! Problem with Packard Bell EasyNote E6100 laptop

Well, it was half price thanks to GREAT post by a fellow MSEr earlier in the year!
The right half of my keyboard is behaving VERY weirdly. Instead of letters and punctuation marks, I'm getting numbers and things like + signs - eg. j=1 and ;=+. I'm typing this on my cordless keyboard which as you can see is working fine. I can't work out if I've pressed some button I shouldn't have or if a key has jammed (the blank keys above the right and left keys feel spongy and don't click down properly but I can't remember how they felt before...)

Any ideas anyone?

Comments

  • Sorry, I meant to say the blank keys above the right and left arrow keys at the bottom right of the keyboard.

Just to bump the keyboard into touch, Maybe Try This

To Change Keyboard Language Settings Do This.
Click on Start, Control Panel, Date Time and Regional Options,
Add Other Languages, Language Tab, Details.
Now click on, Add, Select (English United Kingdom) Click Ok
If you still see, English United States, Just Click On it Once
then click on remove, now click OK.
Now log off then back on for changes to take effect.

    Just a thought.
  • Thanks, Scuzz - I gave that a go but no change (though the way you guessed the level of my computer skills with those foolproof instructions was uncanny!!!)
I've realised it's got something to do with the alternative functions in blue print on some of my laptop keyboard pads which aren't present on standard keyboards. Any other ideas on what I might have done?!

    press the Num lock key.
You may of accidently pressed it and you are using those keys as a number pad.

  • Eureka! Had tried the numlock key before but didn't realise I had to press function key first. Many thanks to you Geo55 and Mr Skint for humouring Little Miss Novice!
