Hi-I'm having a problem with a new LCD TV I bought recently. I watch TV via a Virgin Media digbox connected via the VCR and into SCART 1 recently when watching the television it often "jumps" to the TV source channel or SCART 2 source. This would happen once or twice a day but has started to happen a lot recently. I also have the same problem when watching DVD's connected to SCART 2
Anyone know why this might be? Its like living with a poltergeist!

Are the scart leads properly seated and of (relatively) decent quality. I.e. have you tried changing the cables? Otherwise sounds like faulty TV to me."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Has the VM box got two scart sockets? It may help if you connect VM directly to the TV and the VCR to the VM box. SS is quite correct you may have faulty or partially wired scarts.
I had problems once however discovered that the cat had sat on a remote and was changing channels.
There is also an urban myth that low energy light bulbs can cause this problem? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Thanks for your replies. I will try the SCART suggestions but I also have a feeling it could be the TV. I unwisely bought it off ebay, it came boxed and sealed from someone with good feedback but I should have known better0

Well assuming you narrow it down to being your TV, you'll probably still be covered by a manufacturer's warranty (they can sometimes be more helpful than retailers anyway). The more difficult route (depending on the seller) is that even ebay sellers must adhere to the sale of goods act and distance selling regulations (assuming they're within the UK). Enforcing that may be easier said than done though. But we're getting ahead of ourselves. Personally I'd try the scart thing first, then contact seller to see what they say (they may be very helpful and hassle free), then contact the manufacturer if no joy there."She is quite the oddball. Thanks for the advice. It makes good sense. Will try the scart leads and directly connecting the VM box first. What I forgot to mention is I have a scart switcher connected to scart 2 (for DVD + various consoles) so I wonder if that might be causing a problem too?0 -

just try removing the switcher to eliminate that, but also check for other sources of infra-red as well, once saw a faulty fish tank light do similar. bit more random tho.click here to achieve nothing!0
