odd question about airport security/hand luggage

sorry if this sounds odd but am sorting stuff out for my summer holiday and have been looking at the regulations and it all sounds a bit confusing.
i've not been abroad for 7 years and 9/11 happened while i was abroad
''If you are carrying a laptop or any other large electrical item within your cabin luggage then please have it ready for separate screening.'' does this include digital camera or portable dvd player?
''Prepare the re-sealable bag of liquids before arriving at the airport. ''
excuse me? re-sealable bag? i thought that was lifted ages ago
the main adviceis 'check with your airline' and all they say is there is a size restriction and weight restriction is 5kg

As far as i remember laptops can now aty in their bags. Otherwise simply take it out at the security. This does'nt include cameras etc.
The bags will be provided at security and simply put your liquids in them. less than 100ml iirc.
I wouldnt worry too much about the 5kg thing. So long as its not a huge bag you'll be fine.0 -
they often ask you to switch on the laptop to prove its a real one and not packed with a bomb ...so thats what they mean have it seperate not burried under ruck sacks contents
camera..just pack it in the carry on bag as normal0 -
Just flown from heathrow (last week) and luquids have to be out of the bag before security and they will supply you with a plastic bag (remember the under 100ml thing).
Laptops must be taken out at security and placed in a seperate tray to your other bag. Just so they have a clear veiw of it on the x ray
