Can anyone advise if the Ibis hotel is near the city centre for the girlies to go shopping whilst we go to the football and is the night life near to the hotel

It's very close to the city centre, probably 10 minutes walk into Wind Street for the nightlife, with the main shopping centre a further couple of minutes away.
The stadium is about a 5 minutes drive from the hotel.0 -

It's walkable to the city centre 'main', but taxi's in Swansea are amongst the cheapest i've come across.
With regards to nightlife, i'd be wary of wearing any colours that aren't Swansea on a night out in the Kingsway! I'd even say as the nightlife is suitably identikit to the vast majority of UK towns you'd be better off getting a B&B in the Mumbles, staying and nightlifing out there - plenty of buses into Swansea city centre.0 -
Thanks for the info, how far is the Mumbles from the Ibis0

Not walkable! A bus or taxi ride. It's very pretty, along the seafront and you have the 'mumbles mile' a collection of 21 (?) pubs & clubs followed by dodgy club. And you might bump into Catherine Zeta Jones. It's just so much nicer than the usual selection on Wind Street & The Kingsway.0 -
Very quiet in Mumbles these days if you are after a good night out. No such thing as the Mumbles Mile anymore, since Wind Street has taken over. Nowhere near 21 pubs. More like 6 and you would be lucky to find any of them too busy, even on a saturday night.
Only Bentleys left as a nightclub and they just seem to have live bands and also now very quiet.
Mumbles is now perfect for a family day out and has some of the best restaurants in the city, but the mumbles mile is I'm afraid extinct, if its a few pints you are after.
Wind Street is quite an expericnce these days if you want a proper night out and the biggest nightclub in Wales has recently opened on the Kingsway called Oceana.
Just letting you know incase you head to Mumbles and wonder where everyone is. Then again if you after a quiet night after losing to the mighty Swans then it might suit you.0 -
Hi DOOg just to advise the REDS from Nottingham are coming to win this time0

Hi guys.
Student? Me? I wish.
Just honestly pointing out that Mumbles isn't the boozers paradise it once was. Its still misconceived outside Swansea as its stag and hen night hotspot when it has quietened down a lot. Probably a good thing, as its much nicer now for families. Several of the pubs have closed since Wind Street in the City centre went balistic, and a lot of the youngsters don't venture down there anymore for a night out.
As I say, you have the choice of a rowdy but safe night out in the City centre, or a pleasant quiet Mumbles drink down by the seaside.
I would have given you a good chance 1618 , if the excellent Paul Anderson hadn't gone and got injured. Maybe Earnie will do the business for you as he is gonna get a lot of abuse for his Cardiff connectons.
Have a good stay, but don't enjoy the match too much.
If you are in the City the whole weekend, then Mumbles would be nice for a sunday afternoon pint or lunch.
All the best.0
