Scam, right?

Can someone give a quick description of what happens with this scam? Presumably a £200 PayPal transfer occurs, otherwise the phone wouldn't be mailed. Is that transfer funded by a stolen card or something?
They can send you a fake PayPal email, which states that they have paid and PayPal are withholding your money until you can enter a tracking number. They you go off and post it to get a tracking number and discover that the email is fake.
Or else they pay you with a forged cheque. Sometimes they overpay with a forged cheque, so if you sold something for £200, they'd send you a cheque for £300, ask you to send the £100 difference back, you do so and send the item, then a few weeks later your bank calls and says the cheque was forged, and they are deducting the £300 from your account. So you've sent some scammer your item and £100 and have nothing to show for it.0
