You can, but once you do it's gone for good. See this page.

How threatening does that sound? Don't make it easy or simple do they? Do they mean if you leave us you will never be able to deal with Ebay again? Even if you set up a different account?

They have intimidated me into staying and I didn't even want to leave!:silenced:

You just can't use that email account with Ebay ever again! But if you change the email address and then close it you can still use the first email address

I'm not even sure that's true. Or did I miss something?

I interpreted the doom and gloom bit as being a disclaimer to anyone who thought they might later be able to start up again and get their old feedback rating back etc. We know that ebay can't stop people from opening new accounts as scammers do it all the time. ;)

I closed one of my Ebay accounts and I still have another (with same details, including card).

I could have been clearer in what I meant by that last post. I was just wondering if you could even open a new account with the same e-mail as the closed one. I guess it's not really important though, as e-mail addresses are ten a penny.

No. If you have me@me.com you can never use that with Ebay again. However, if you change that to you@me.com before closing it you can use me@me.com to open a new account!

You just can't use the email associated with the Ebay account when it was closed.
