I have a goal to save £8,000 in 2 years and I want to help everyone else who is trying to save too. I hope that I can give tips on making extra cash and others can help me too.
I have had to start to prepare to start saving, I am starting to save in September because I don't start my new job until then. I have had to save £200 a week for 8 weeks, so I can pay my bills for 2 months whilst I am not working. Until then I have a wedding, three major birthdays in my family and other things that are going to end up costing me.

To make extra cash I have been doing the following...
- Marketing research - I got in contact with this person after a advert in the local paper. This isn't reliable work and sometimes can go months without producing work for me.
- Ironing - I called a business that I knew would need ironing work and asked if they needed anybody, it worked and I have quite regular work from them. Its brill if I want to catch up with my TV lol.
- Bar work for events such as festivals etc. This is great, I get to enjoy the event and meet people too. I registered with agencies for this and it can be good during the summer months and at xmas.

Thanks for all the private messages I have recieved from this thread.
I hope by answering some of these here will help others;
1. Check out local small companies that you know need ironers, such as fancy dress and wedding seat cover people too. 40p an item is a good basis to start.
2. Stuckforstaff.com is a great resource for extra jobs if you are on the look out,
Thanks for those people who have sent me messages of support, I feel like I am alone in this and sometimes I just want to run away and cry xx Thanks x:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Miss No Money Pennies :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Hi, What are you saving for?
I am saving for a deposit and trying very hard too!! :j
Thinking about a second job, but hard because I have a 5 year old, and would only consider something online, or that wouldn't effect my time with him after my normal job :P so nothing really likely to happen there anytime soon, nothing like that really in NZ.
But good luck anyway, and let us know how you are getting on"Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without!!"Nov NSD: ?/30 Nov Make 10 Day ?/300Get Rid Of Debt: ?/2000 !! :mad:0 -
I've just started saving (well, more like just being careful with my money) and I'm finding this whole ''not buying clothes'' thing really hard, but I've set afew ground rules and it's helping.
First off, I can only buy myself basics, the kind of clothes you can dress up but are easy enough for when you're having a bad bleh day. Mine is, like most peoples, Jeans, tank top + pumps.
I wont let myself buy things that look difficult to iron, or things that will go out of fashion in a heartbeat. Also, I go for mainly plain shades more than colours. Accessories are a girls best friend! You can easily pick up some bits from Primark that can totally change an outfit for afew £.
(sorry for the long post!)
But like ZoeGirl said, Good luck and keep us updated!0 -
Well today I had to spend £100 on the dress for my cousins wedding, but I did save up for it first and put it into my budget. The dress is a colour that I can wear again maybe for a xmas bash or something and is the exact replica of the dress I really want but is £200 in the shops so I am saving money there. The headpiece I am wearing with it a friend gave to me as she owns a dance shop and the shoes my lovely boyfriend is buying me as a special gift.
I am saving for myself, I want to have finacial independance! I left a relationship because I felt I didn't have any control and although I could have had anything I wanted I wasn't happy. I am much happier now, I am comfortable yes I may not have loads of new clothes or a new car but I have self respect in myself and that matters more to me than anything in the world.
Zoe Girl do you live in New Zealand?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Miss No Money Pennies :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0
