Heathrow airport lounge- is this allowed ?

Hi,
We fly to Thailand soon from Heathrow . Missed departures are not insured ( tesco points booking) so rather than travel down the same day we are travelling down the night before and staying in a pod at Yotel T4. Asise from the missed departure issue we think it will be good fun.

Now, me and Mrs B love a good drink to kick off the holiday but being keen moneysavers dont fancy paying airport prices for large vodka and red bulls all night , so here s the plan ...

Could we go in the executive airport lounge the night before, say from 8pm till 11( or 12) pm, before sleeping in our pod and boarding our flight at 10 am? Would the airport lounge people mind, or even know? Do they check tickets and if so any way to fool them . If my plan would work whats the best way to book them?

Many thanks in advance.

Which lounge are you planning on using - are you in Business/First using the airline lounge or Priority pass? Many of the lounges will close when their last flight boards. Some lounges do admin arriving passengers but it depends on the lounge

Any lounge would do , not book one yet. But Ive just realised that the Yotel is before passport control . Are there any lounges before passport control otherwise my plans flawed?

you need to find a pub outside of the hotel terminals, and then it might be slightly cheaper... that would be my plan..

  • yes the lounges cost and they check your boarding passes to see if you are entitled to it for free, or your receipt to see if you have paid for it.

each lounge has a receptionist...normally more so I doubt you would get past them without paying, and as already said they are all airside, except the arrivals lounges which your normally have to again produce the relevent boarding stubb or normally a pass given out on the plane from the first class/biz class flight attendents.

There is of course the important fact that Yotel T4 is landside and all of the lounges (apart from arrivals lounges which are run by airlines and can NOT be paid for) are airside.

As has been mentioned, your plan won't work as you physically can't get to the lounges.

You probably don't want to be denied boarding for being drunk either...

They always check on entrance to lounges that you have paid (or have the right) to be there. The paid for lounges normally specify on the tickets that you can be there X hours in advance (I think maybe around 3?). I don't think this will extend into the night before.

    Thanks all,
Yes my plan was flawed but seemed like a good idea at the time.
Plan B (Cheers ahall) it is, Tesco Heathrow here we come followed by a snug ( very snug) party night in in our Yotel pod. I suppose plan C would be to pospone pre flight drinks from 7am till 10 am but think I`ll pass on that .
    Cheers
