The Hair Group mag promotion - scam?

Hi,

In a recent copy of You and Your Wedding magazine (I think it was the Sept/Oct one) there was an offer to get a free hair trial with the Hair Group. All you had to do was send off the form and they would contact you within 30 days with an apointment.

Well I sent off my form by recorded delivery, but it's now been over the 30 days and I've still heard nothing.

I was going to look on the Hair Group's website but this is currently down which seems rather suspicious. Has anyone successfully got a hair trial from this offer, or does anyone know more about it?

Please help! Thanks :-)

Yes I have had 2 hairgroup promo's mysteriously disappear. However phone up Michelle Goss on 08707942077 Extension 206 and she will track your application down.

It's not a scam, but a rather badly-run promotion. A lot of people on these boards have complained about lack of communication etc from the Hair Group.

I have been lucky, though: I've had two free haircuts from this promotion (in about a year). The last one was in July, I think. Was very pleased with them, two quite posh salons and good cuts, and you are not made to feel like a cheapskate for getting a freebie. :o

I do think it took them quite a while to get back to me, maybe more than the official 30 days. The first salon sent me a letter asking me to phone for an appointment, and the second one phoned me.

Why do they call them hair trials now? When I did them, they just referred to them as free haircuts...

So I wouldn't worry about it just yet, give them another couple of weeks maybe, they're not a very organised lot unfortunately :)

Thanks for both of your replies - and especially for the contact number. I wanted to call them but couldn't seeing as their site was down. It made me think they had gone out of business or something.

It's called a hair trial as it's in a wedding magazine and is for brides to go for a free trial of styles for their wedding day!

    I'll try calling that number....thanks again icon10.gif
  • Its not a scam but you do have to wait ages for the vouchers to be sent, I sent off for 3 separate promotions with the Hair group and Beauty Group (same company) at different times, I got 3 vouchers just last week. But I did have to contact the PR company about the missing beauty voucher as they sent me a text saying they couldn't offer a treatment in my area -so i called them and got them to send me another Hair voucher. Not bad offer considering the cost of the haircut is about £35!

Personally I think the promo is badly run but if you can be bothered to chase this up then it is well worth it. I have pointed several family members (cough, cough) in the direction of this promotion.

I too had to wait a while and the salon recommended in plymouth was so badly run (they kept me waiting for 45 minutes) and didn't have a clue what they were doing. The place was empty which says it all really. It was so bad that I walked out. Not to say they are all like that though.

I sent of once in June and got a reply from my local salon very quickly. The voucher is pretty much valid for a year and I went 3 weeks ago and had a brilliant haircut and colour and saved about £35 on something I really wanted done.

So no it isn't a scam and as for lost vouchers etc keep pestering them!

    :D
  • The Hair Group promotions are brilliant.I use a voucher every month, worth about 40.00 and also get a 50% off my next visit which I pass on to friends as I don't need it,always having vouchers for myself in reserve.Great salon and staff, excellent cut and colouring skills.

Don't worry about the delay in hearing from them. I sent off for a voucher last December and only heard back from the salon in June!
It was definately worth the wait as the salon was so nice. It was also a very nice suprise as I had completely forgotten about it and was about to book a non free appointment!
