Installing service pack 3 do i need 1 and 2 (xp system)

i am re formatting my computer, do i need to install service pack 1 and 2 before 3 , or is all that is needed contained with 3 , many thanks

Taken from the Microsoft site:

You must have either Windows XP Service Pack 1a or Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed in order to install Windows XP Service Pack 3.

My understanding is that it will go straight on to the as supplied XP operating system in all its forms. See quote direct from Microsoft
