Home Buying Advice Needed

Good Afternoon MSE
Need some home buying advice. Interested in a property that has an public access alley running along one side and a number of council garages situated to one corner. These are a concern to me. Has anyone had any good/bad/indifferent experiences they could share in living beside these features?

My sister lives in a house with a public access alley to one side of her & has been burgled twice. The first time she was out of the house, but the 2nd time she woke to hear the intruder downstairs.
Personally I'd be too afraid to live in a house that offered any kind of easy access to it & feel much more secure living in a terraced property with no rear access. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
I have a public path along the back of my house, and was only burgled when I was stupid enough to leave the back door key in the lock when I went out. That was seven years ago. Haven't been done since.
I'd be worried about the gargaes though, as often kids hang around that kind of area, drinking etc.
Why not visit it in the evening/late at night and see if anyone hangs around there?
I would say though that buying a house is gut instinct and if you have reservations, dont; go for it - you need to fall in love with your property:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Thank you for your replies. My wife and I are first-time buyers and the property in question, despite it's worrying features, is by far the best we've seen since we've been looking . We both love the house, in fact it's the only house we've envisaged ourselves living in. However, I just can't ignore the potential dangers of these features. My heart says yes but my head says no! Help!0
