Sky Tv Card Problem

I have a problem with my sky viewing card. It has been taken out by one of the children and is now so badly damaged it won't work!
I need to therefore get a replacement but i never have my digibox connected to the phone line and by calling sky they may want it connected etc etc.
If I get another viewing card from somewhere like ebay will it still let me watch all my subscribed channels? Or does the card need to be activated to my package - excuse my ignorance.
Any help very welcome

Our Sky+ was fitted at the beginning of October and I asked the Skyman about using our other Skybox card at another address. He said that the box and card are 'paired' so that a card can only be used in the specific box. If someone wanted by box and card they could use it, but not the card in their box.
I am quite sure you could get a replacement card from them without them coming out. So there would be no need to see you box etc.0 -
Do not bother even looking at a card on Ebay, most are useless.
If you have a legal subscription with Sky, ring them up and they will send another card out. You will have to call them when the card arrives to pair it up with your Digibox, but that's simple.
Also, after a year you do not have to have your Digibox connected to the phone.0 -
thanks for the advice.
I have a fully legal package - don't I know its now at about £36 a month!!!!!
I will call and ask them to send a new one.
I have heard so many horror stories of boxes continually dialling Sky and no-one noticing until a big hefty phone bill lands on the mat. Sky then argue the toss and you have to pay up. I have had my phoneline disconnected for the last 4 years with no problems.0 -
A friend of mine has his phone line disconnected as well so he doen't get the regional BBC and ITV channels on 101 and 103, presumably 'cos the Sky box dosn't know where it is.That gum you like is coming back in style.0

How odd - we don't have the phone line connected either but our regions are correct.penrhyn wrote:A friend of mine has his phone line disconnected as well so he doen't get the regional BBC and ITV channels on 101 and 103, presumably 'cos the Sky box dosn't know where it is.
You know you can pick up other regions anyway - not very useful, but all the BBC regions are on channels 950 or somthing near the end, and the ITV ones can be manually added.
The BBC Scotland and Northern Ireland variations are very useful BTW - if you ever miss something on BBC1/2 have a look at these as programmes are often shown at different times.
(That is totally off-topic though I know
