1 CCJ - Current Account?!

Hi all,
I'm looking to open a basic bank account and hopefully looking to upgrade it in the future (6mths - 1yr) I have 1 CCJ and my credit rating is very poor.
I went into Co-op the other day and explained my situation and they said because you've been honest with us we won't have a problem opening your account (The Cashminder basic account) I didn't have no ID with me at the time so I need to go in there and open it asap when I get my provisional driving licence through!
Since then I've heard some dodgy things about them but they were really understanding and helpfull when I went in to see them, should I go with my gut instinct or look somewhere else? (If anyone will give me the same as Co-op!!)
Thanks
Steve

Co-Op are good, but are unlikely to upgrade the account.
The only bank that I have come across that will do this is Natwest with a “Step” account” which coem with DD / SO and a solo card - which they will upgrade to a current account with Switch after 6-8 months of sensible use. It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them :rolleyes:0 -
What dodgy things have you heard about them? The only downside to the account is that I don't think it pays interest... I've never heard of anyone having a bad experience with co-op, I opened a cashminder account in anticipation of going into an IVA and it's been fine, although took a few weeks to open (if you go directly into a branch, this may be different - I opened mine by post).0
