Hey all, hope everyone's well.

Quick question, I have loads of old photos that I would like to scan onto PC so I have a digital copy of them all. However, I have SOOO many, (and also I don't have a scanner) it would take me far too long to do myself, is there anywhere that will do it for me? perhaps any shops?

thanks! :T

Can't think of a service that does this.

But one option is if you've got the negatives, you can get these converted to digital at most places that develop photos. e.g. Boots. They can give you a CD with them on.

I found it was cheapest and easiest to bite the bullet and buy a scanner (one that does negatives as well )

took me a while but scanned everything in the end.The reason I say do it yourself is because you can take time to get the best settings and best quality scans

definitely go for buying a scanner.
My OH does this for a living for a big company and they charge lots to do it,really if you have time , you can get pretty good results yourself. The reason they charge so much I think is because they do it for commercial photographers who want their pictures blown up to fit bill boards or for books and magazines etc and so they must be superb quality .

I'd agree far easier to go for a scanner & get the results you want yourself....i've just digitised a ton of old colour & black & white photos and Negs recently...an hour or two a day & the time flew by so it didnt seem so bad!

    Mortgage-free Glee!
I did mine over a number of weeks and disposed of the original prints. I have them backed up too onto DVD.

I even posted some of the cheesy ones onto club and school sites to share with the world!
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

I can vouch for results of canon MP810 (or newer veriants)
It scans photos and negatives. Will print directly from slides, film, photos enlarging to excellent quality.
Photo printing whilst not cheap is excellent.

Awesome, thanks for the response everyone. I don't mind getting my hands dirty, but it requires a good chunk of time! Can anyone recommend a cheap/decent scanner? I don't think I'll need to have one that does negatives because I don't know whether I have that many negatives, just lots of photos, but of course if it comes built in then thats cool =D
