I have my own forums and website - every so often I check my stats for those people who feel the need to hot link, steal my bandwidth, and seek them out. I'd go to their site via my stats, do a search, find a thread in a forum for instance where someone has posted using a pic or smilies from my site, using my badnwidth - to check, I'd mouse right click the pic, check properties and see my site address.
Since getting a new pc, when I mouse right click the pic in a forum thread for instance, I only get the thread address and although I know the pic or smilies or whatever have been lifted from my site and using my bandwidth, I can't prove it anymore.
I hope you understand me - can someone enlighten me - do I need to tweak something on my pc, or is there another way I can check?
Your help in this matter would be gratefully received

I'd still see the pic, and even though I know it's been lifted from my site using my bandwidth, it will not display my site's address (like it used to ) it will display the address of the site I'm looking at the pic on - if you lifted a pic from my site and posted it here using my sites pic address, and if I right click it, normally I'd see my site address, but since getting a new pc, I'd see this forums thread address instead.
I hope I made sense?0 -
Yeah I got ya how many sites is this on..?0

All of them, they are the sites I would usually check out but since changing pc's all has changed.0

I was just wandering if it was one site and they changed there server characteristics.
Can you put pictures in a sub menu, and make the folder private,
can you post or PM me and example?0 -
I don't understand what you're asking - I've just asked one of my mods to go to a site that I suspect of displaying our smilies using our bandwidth, she right clicked and found our site address displayed - when I right click I just get the thread address the smilies are displayed in (the address that's in the browser)... and this has only started happening since I got a new pc - what ever is the problem, it's at my end, i was hoping that I just needed to tweak something on my new pc and all would be well.

Well its your site isnt it, and thats where people are pinching stuff from
by direct linking, If you changed a number or letter in the file your end you will break the link so the person whos hot linked the file wont be able to as now the links broke
also if you put stuff in subfolders links cant be established easy..
What Browser you using I have a cunning plan0 -
I know it's my site, and if I do what you've just said, the graphics wouldn't display at our end neither, which isn't what I want - I want to know if there is away to put my settings right on my new pc, so that I can do what I was able to do with my old pc, basically, do what most people can do.0
