Hi everyone :hello:
GOOD MORNING!
I'm very happy this morning, as my ebayer has paid up straight away, she has paid by an echeue, whatever that means ?!
but apprently they take 7-9 working days to clear, says PayPal. But I can see she has paid it, so I've added it to my sig, even though it's not cleared yet.
Sneaky, but now my sig looks good! :rotfl:
Feel very pleased, as I no way thought I would be able to raise £15 a day, but now I've kinda covered myself until 17th already
Going to the caravan tomorrow night, after we've had our girly night at the dogs. Needless to say, DH is driving to the caravan cos I'll be WEEELLLLLL over the limitNot had a girly night out for ages- about 2 years since I went out without DH. We don't get to go out very often, so when we do go out we like to go together. (bless
)
Anyway, I've priced up all the carboot stuff to take to the van this weekend, I won't be able to do it this weekend, because we won't get there until about 1am after the dogs, and I'll be far too hungover to get up at 6am!
Anyhow, babble finished... and true to my word Frugal Pam:

The benefit of Amazon is that once it's uploaded you don't have to make any effort to sell them, it's just a waiting game. I'd check to see what price the books are selling for on Amazon, and then decide whether it's worth listing them or car booting them. I had a series of 4 books, paperbacks. 2 of them were listed for about £5, and one of them sold, 1 was listed at £8 and is still there and the last one was listed for £16 and sold quite quickly. Given that the book is still in print and can be bought for 1/3 of that price I was pleasantly surprised, but that's the sort of situation where you are much more likely to get a good price online than at the boot sale.
Think of it in terms of buyers and sellers markets. Amazon is a buyers market most of the time. There are a very large number of sellers, often selling identical things. So you need to have something that someone is specifically after that no-one else is offering to be able to make it worthwhile. Car Boot sales are the other way round. The number of sellers is much smaller, it is unlikely that anyone is going to be selling exactly the same thing, and the buyer comes to your actual stall before knowing what you have, which gives you a better opportunity to sell something that they weren't looking for - the flipside being that they probably won't give you a huge amount of money for it.Oct Challenges: Make £5 a day - £5.18/£155 Grocery Challenge - £0/£2000 -

Hi Noggin,
Do you mean Escrow?
If so that means that the money is held by a third party until the buyer receives the goods and lets the third party know that all is well. Then they release the funds to you.
It's a sort of guarantee thing.

Ditto on the textbooks. I've found that non-fiction sells more frequently and for more money as does more specialised/collectable fiction. For example my Doctor Who paperbacks from 1990s have held their value and in some instances increased to £20-£40 (:j) because they stopped printing them as soon as the new series started etc. Also Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels will still sell for £2-3 in most cases whereas your average bestselling novel will be on there for 1p and worse it'll be on there for 1p 405 times!! Then you've got no hope of selling it. It's really quick and easy to find out whether a book is worth anything so it's best to check first.
Oh dear, I sound like a real Sci-Fi geek (scampers off to hunt for "proper" books for well-adjusted, sensible, grown-ups...):rotfl:O/draft 1Abbey:£1000 Student Loan [STRIKE]£10,825[/STRIKE] £9030 Personal Loan: [STRIKE]£4900[/STRIKE]£4809 Apple Finance: £1000

What a muppet I am!
I just realised that my goal of £150 per month gets smashed every time my lodger pays his rent + bills (about £400). I'll have to not include that income.
Anyway, he's moving out at the end of August so I'll lose that money. Will get a discount on the Council Tax though but September and October are going to be tight, especially as HMRC are collecting a load of back tax for my new company car which I've had for 9 months. I lose £120 from my salary this month. Vultures!!!
Partner moves in at the end of August so he'll contribute from then on.
