Well it's my 4th NSD in a row and I won't be going near a shop until Thursday when my Waitrose Delivery comes and then I am taking MIL to Sainsbury's where I will get the things I forgot in my Waitrose order! Both DDs coming home at the weekend, but we are eating out on Sunday (a different budget) and DH requested spaghetti carbonara for his 'birthday' treat on Saturday - so he's cheap to run! (It's his birthday today but he's still working too hard and I have given him an ultimatum - he's to stop at 6pm so I can cook his dinner and we can open a bottle of wine!)
Spent the morning making 7lbs of marmelade (from tinned prepared oranges, so a bit of a cheat, but costs less than 50 p a jar and tastes delicious even if I say so myself!). Also did 44 hobnobs, which were a bit disappointing as they have turned out a bit soft. I think I bought the Stork which comes in a tub and which I now see says for cakes, rather than the foil wrapped stuff which is for pastry. I used this last time and they were fantastic. Oh, well never mind they will still get eaten. I also made Duchesse potatoes -16 pieces - 4 of which we will have with salmon (from the freezer) for tea tonight and the rest are in the freezer. They freeze really well and take minutes to reheat in the oven. They look posh and are the kind of fast food I approve of - even if they are a bit fiddly to make.
Was please I managed to do a couple of hours in the garden this afternoon too despite the heavy rain last night - it's amazing how quickly it drains away here.
Well that's all folks. Have a nice evening.

Meant to say Angelnikki that I declared on the July challenge but you may not have seen it as I notice that my result isn't in the list on the first page. I'll put it again here:
£291.74 total for July for Moniker - £8.26 under budget.
Thanks.0 -

I posted on the July challenge that I am noting down everyone's final figures but I'm having problems updating the list at the moment - it keeps saying there's a 500 error when I try to save the edited postI'm not having problems editing any other posts so not sure what's going on.
I'll keep trying to update it, but if it doesn't let me I will post the list again at the end of the challenge or on my other post on the first page. HTH

Helloooo All
My word but this thread is so long already.
OK I havnt done the Grocery Challenge for yonks but I really need to get a grip on all our spending again so here I am.
Havnt been keeping a record lately and someweeks spend next to nothing then I do a large Tesco shop when things run out. So basically this month I am going for £300, am hoping this is generous but time will tell. Our month runs from 1st - 30th.

Will try it in the future, first time I've just chucked everything in the SC, usually follow recipes. Didn't realise you could cook with the lid off!
I have another culinary disaster about to happen, put the BM on for a normal white loaf with seeds in (linseed, pumpkin, sesame & sunflower) it's done its first mix. now resting and I just realised that I've selected programme 2 FRENCH bread not programme 1 for BASIC  Nothing I can do now but hope the basic bread recipe will work out okay for french bread, where is my head today   :eek:Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.
