Free Travel
I am interested in using my over 60s free travel card to travel from Leicestershire to Blackpool. So far the best deal is not free and I cannot find a website that maps out all the options that will get me there free. Has anyone any ideas as to how I might do this?

I thought that the card only gave you free travel on local services? The Nottinghamshire one does.Gone ... or have I?0

Passes can now be used nationwide on all local bus services0

I thought I was adventurous considering going to Marrakech by train - it is 48 hours, but at least I get a bed on two of the trains!
My geography is useless - what towns would you pass through between Leics and Blackpool?Gone ... or have I?0 -
haha
you would probably end up doing
Derby
Stoke on Trent
Crewe
Manchester
Bolton
Preston
This would be crazy to do. Would take all day. Better to try and find yourself a £1 seat on national express0 -
Thank you all for your comments. dolby 21 - your route is very close to mine (and I am not a local) so thats good. Its 6Hrs 50Mns with a 1hr.50mns. wait at Birmingham from here and cost £28.50 so I just wondered if it was a possibility. I would be interested in information about the £1 National Express ticket0

Is the 1hr 50 mins on top of the 6hrs 50 mins?
The National Express info is on this weeks newsletter.Gone ... or have I?0 -
It's actually quite easy - get yourself to Derby (or Nottingham if easier). There's a service from both to Manchester, from Manchester to Preston, and from Preston to Blackpool.
http://www.carlberry.co.uk/ is useful - but can be hard work. Put in any town or village in the UK and it will list all its transport.
There have been long threads on this in the Silver savers section0 -
Try this website:

When you plan a journey, make sure you untick all options except bus so that you only see local bus services offered for your journeys.0
