File conversion help needed

I have a video file in the format of .xv . What is this and how can i convert it to AVI or MPG etc?

use gspot to first work out what codec has been used, .xv is not an extension i recognise, xvid is, but that would be an avi.
perhaps just try changing the extension yourself to .avi, or drag/drop into vlc player

This is the only reference I can find on it and it says its an image file, it might play like a giff image file does I don't know how you'd convert it to video. You could try the GraphicsConverter.exe mentioned on the page.

It may be useful for other people in the future. I went to the properties of the file and changed the way it should play manually to real player - no success and the tried windows media player - working fine!
