......I'm getting the same problem with these modules!
So, I'm pulling my hair out this morning!

I think this is your board and cruacial memory. Do any of the CT numbers match what you've received.

    At what density though?

The density relates to the number of chips on a memory module. From what the MSI site said, your motherboard doesn't support ram made up from 4 banks, only 8 and 16.

So in your example of 512mb, if it's a 512mb module made up from 4x128mb chips, then your motherboard probably won't accept it. If it were 512mb made up of 8x64mb then it probably would. That's my understanding from the sentence I quoted off the MSI website.

    Oh right...

    8 x 32Mb = 256Mb x 2

I've just noticed that I've put the wrong name in!! :wall:

The memory I have bought the second time around are Corsair Modules! Doh!

However, I was advised by OverclockersUK that they were the one's I needed to buy.

I think it may be the !!!!!! Motherboard that's at fault - or my inability to do anything right!

What's the product code for the Corsair memory?

That D-Bracket thing - not familiar with it. Do you get any response on screen during POST?

According to the this D-Bracket page you get the memory error when its decompressing the bios to RAM?

    Here's what I'd do .....

    1. Does the POST display the bios version and build ?

    2. Insert one stick into DDR1 and test. Repeat with other stick.

    3. Reset CMOS.

Short 2+3 of JBAT1 (see manual).

    4. Repeat #2

.... assuming I've got the right manual.

If you're still not getting anywhere I'd be looking to test the memory on another machine.

I can't see anywhere in your posts that the motherboard has ever been used. So given that two lots of memory aren't working ...... the omens don't look good.

Thanks for your really usefull post but, after doing what you suggested the problem is still there.

    Think it's a new Motherboad :(

    Can you suggest one please?

    Edit:
