HSBC Lifetime tracker

Had my mortgage interview with HSBC yesterday, Was only interested in the life time tracker. I bank with hsbc any way, and am looking to remortgage for £146,000.
Anyhow the difference between the Norm 5.99% and Plus account 5.89% was £17 so for free travel cover ect seemed a good idea to switch my account to Plus for a £12.99 a month fee. Anyway pushing it a bit, I questioned if this was the best possible deal available and was told If i signed up for plus today he may be able to get me 5.79%,
This i agreed, he then made a phone call and quoted to whoever on the other end. "Customer has asked if we can match the 5.79% deal halifax are offering for tracker"
He was told, yes as long as customer signs up for Plus account today.
Which I did immediatly and now have Prelimary mortgage offer for 5.79% lifetime tracker, no fees.
Happy as a pig in "£$%0 -
I'm looking to remortgage (current deal coming to an end) and am very interested in this HSBC deal. I have also been talking to some brokers to see if they can find anything better.
A broker was telling me that HSBC deals are certainly very competitive but that he has heard many peoople complaining about poor and unresponsive cutomer service from HSBC becasue they are dealing with so much new business at the moment.
I know that HSBC don't work through brokers, so he has an incentive to put me off HSBC.
I wondered if anyone has experienced problems with their customer service recently?0 -

The HSBC mortgage team (both in branch and at the application centre) have been first rate, they have got offers out within days and have had the survey done etc with the minimum of fuss and delay. They did have a rush on a couple of months ago when they had the rate matcher offer, but now it's all calmed down and they seem to be running like clockwork.Keep the right company because life's a limited business.0 -
i havent yet got a mortgage with hsbc, but think if and when i apply for a mortgage i will apply with hsbc as i thought that their service was 1st rate in the branch i went to, even when they thought i might not be choosing hsbc mortgage.bubblesmoney :hello:0

I have just completed on an HSBC tracker mortgage and it has not cost me a single penny. I have a current account with HSBC bit it is not a Plus account. The rate is 5.99 (set at 0.99 above base rate) but obviously this could go up or down.
I opted for this as my two year fixed rate with the Chelsea had come to an and and this was the best I could find. I am planning to possibly pay the mortgage off in about two years so I didn't want to get stuck with anything longer than that and at risk of stating the bleeding obvious there aren't many good deals around at the moment.0 -

I also recived excellent customer service and the in-house lawyers actually chased me up because I had not replied to their letter re the remortgage within 5 days!! First time I have remortgaged and it was so simple and proffesional that I am even considering switching my current account to HSBC from lloyds.0 -

We've just completed with HSBC and it was fine. We were given a business card with the advisor's mobile number if we needed to chase anything (we didn't need to, though)0 -
I spoke to a member of the HSBC team the other day when i was in branch, i was looking at remortgaging options (have been with them a while on what was a graduate mortgage) and due to the fairly small size of my mortgage (approx £50k) the discounted rates would cost me more.
As it turned out the rate i was only 0.01 worse than the tracker but because it was an old style mortgage mine would never be more than BOE base rate + 1% whereas the tracker can be up to BOE baste rate + 1.25% so i'm happy with my current status.0 -
I got the 5.74 rate (0.74 above base rate) for my second (used for work) home and am now negotiating a 5.99 (0.99 above base rate) for our primary home, both with HSBC, with whom we both bank, individual - non plus or premier - current accounts.
Fantastic deals it seems. No legals, no up front fees, no discharge fees, overpayments allowed etc. Got my homeowner secured loan on the same rate and a small new homeowner loan on same rate too.....
Dead chuffed lets hope it all works out ok by completion. Will keep you posted.0 -
Mortgage deal looks great if you are eligible.
CAUTION - Look around for the Mortgage Protection eg. Life cover because when you buy direct from a lender it is normally much more expensive.0
