My dell pc is about 3 months old and in the past month ive had problems rebooting and it wont boot into windows first time and i reset and switch off then it boots, ive seen the blue screen at one point and then then friday night i done a adaware upgrade and scan which asked for a reboot and it wouldnt boot past the motherboard confirmation page and was stuck on a black window with a white flashing cursor in the top left of the screen, so i tried for 1/2 hour and gave up but it booted up ok in the morning and i havent rebooted since just incase. Is this the hard drive failing?

How do dell deal with problems within the first year? If it is the hard drive do i need to wait untill it has failed as knowing my luck it would boot first time everytime for them.

Can anyone please help or advise what next as previous pcs have been bought local to me so i always took it back to the shop for anything but with dell being internet and not so local i dont know what to do:confused: Can you help please.

Thanks in advance;)

Yes I would ring Dell too. When the PC first developed this problem, can you associate it with any event ie installing new hardware/software?. CAn you get it booted into safe mode?

Please - just contact Dell support - by phone or see if your PC supports online chat. Dell PCs have built-in diagnostics and the techie will talk you through running these.

If you use online chat, the techie will probably call you, at some point ;) Saves you the cost of the phone bill and I've found online chat the quickest way of getting service from them and, in my case, the techies have been brilliant.

Be patient - remember the techie is miles away (probably India or Pakistan) and you need to help him/her to help you.

If they cannot resolve the issue for you, you may have to return the PC to Dell - again, the techie will arrange this for you.

Just get in touch with Dell support.

Well i finally got time for look at the pc and try and find out whats wrong, first i started with the dell support center and tried to run the diagnostics tests but it wouldnt allow it saying it was for Dell Inspiron™, Dimension™ and XPS™ systems not for the vostro 400:confused: so i ran a pc pitstop full scan which ive used many times over the years and it threw up some problems -

Driver issues with my bluetooth which i was aware there was something wrong but i could allways get the bluetooth to work so i guess uninstalling and reinstalling might fix that.

Then there were hard drive problems -

defragment drive c data frag 60% - fail, running at 37 mbs  this is after i had cleared all cookies, temp files etc and fragmented the hard drive which is set up to run every wed at 1am weekly.

check disc speed drive L (external drive) 24mbs - fail.

Does this mean anything to anybody:confused:

    All help really appreciated;)
