We have to use BT broadband. When the broadband connection is not used for 10 minutes or so it disconnects. During much of the working day it can take up to 30 minutes to reconnect. Is there a program (like a screen saver) that will send random requests to the BT server to keep the connection.
Many thanks

That shouldn't happen get on to BT and get them to fix it and ask for compensation for the time you haven't been able to use the net because of them.0

There's no reason why your connection should keep dropping out like that, it must be very annoying.
Seeing as it's BT broadband, on a BT line?, why don't you get them to sort it out, BT are usually quite efficent.0 -
Thanks browntoa, It is a BT business hub, connected through an ethernet cable via a homeplug network. However, plugging directly into the hub doesn't cure the problem. The computer is a new Dell with Windows XP Pro, comodo anti-virus. No extra firewall as we rely on that built into the Hub.

they can do what they call a "one shot check" of your broadband line , checks the line losses errors etc if it fails that then they should take it as a faultEx forum ambassador

Are you sure that this is not a configuration setting that disconnects your session after a set period of inactivity?
Read the manual. The PPP on Demand field allows you to enable PPP on-demand. If the value is set to 0 minutes, the PPP session will be persistent (always-on). If the value is between 1 to 10080 minutes, the PPP session will timeout if the 2Wire gateway does not detect outbound traffic destined for the Internet in the specified time. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
