they have been 24p in Tesco for several weeks now. I keep buying them in case they go up again!:)Do more of what makes you happy:)0 -
Can you use the Hovis bread mix in a breadmaker? How big is the packet, is it like the size of of a packet of custard? I'm always buying, yeast, flour etc and they often seems to go out of date quickly. Buying these packets may be more economical, as far as buying only what is needed.

hi they make a 1.5 lb loaf and they can be used in the breadmaker ,it's quite a decent size packet they are in the baking section of the supermarket .they are great as a spare ,for making bread though i think you need to use a touch less water than is stated on the packet
i just made up the mix let it rise then split it into 3 ,rolled it out and put on a pizza tray and cooked as bread but for a lot less time hope this helps0 -
Right, I'll add this to my list of things to buy. Thanks!

I've found another recent thread on using bread mixes for pizza. I'll merge the threads to keep ideas together

Incidentally, we have done quite well with these as pizza bases. About 1.3 of a hovis packet works with water. The measurements I really wanted before- I dont have
we jsut did the add a bit of water till it looks about right trick. certainly if moneysavers see these in shops at reduced oprices worth getting, one packet does 3 pizas, so much cheaper than the pizzxa base "mixes"
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I was going to make a pizza for tea but have just realised that I have run out of white bread flour.
I do have a few bags of the Hovis White bread mix (the 27p ones from Tesco).
Would this be suitable as a pizza base, ie just put it in the breadmaker on a dough setting?
Would I need to add anything extra ie oil?0
