Taking gas refills for hairstyler on plane

I can't see this has been covered. Under baggage safety and security in a leaflet from Airtours it says:
"The following items are not permitted in your hand luggage or suitcase:
Gas refills for gas powered hair appliances."
Does that mean you can't take the bottle of gas that comes with the hair styler or that you can't take more refills? If you can take a hairstyler with its gas bottle, where would be the best place to keep it, in your suitcase or hand luggage? I'd be grateful for your help.

I think you can take the appliance with the gas inside in your hand luggage but you are not allowed any refillstravelover0

The carriage of gas appliances is governed by the Dangerous Goods Act
If you contact Airtours they will explain exactly what is and is not permitted and how/where it should be packed0 -
i had to ask before, with a different airline though. was told i could take one appliance per checked bag, with one gas refill in it - fitted. so i changed refills for a full one to make sure i had enough...and made hubbie carry the straighteners, and i had the curlers [well, i was on holiday, and had time to do my hair every day]0
