You don't really need to tell anyone as it doesn't affect your benefits but it won't hurt to mention it to your lone parent adviser. It will show that you're planning for the future. I've never heard of anyone getting help with childcare as you study around your other responsibilities (eg after children have gone to bed or when they're at school/playgroup).

If you get any loans or grants, I believe you have to inform whoever it is, as this will be treated as income.

get into touch with your local govenment and your university because you can get grants and bursaries, which you dont have to pay back, as you are a parent

you will not get any help with childcare at all. Due to the flexible and distance learning approach to OU study, you are expected to fit your studying around your commitments. You are not expected to attend lectures or even tutorials (they are optional) so no childcare help is offered whatsoever. Trust me - i tried every avenue available!
