AMEX cashback worries

I have an AMEX Platinum card. I spoke to their customer centre to find out how does their cashback work and was given a conflicting story.
First, I spoke to two people and both claimed that their AMEX reward system restarts every month .i.e I have to spend £10,000 per month in order to get 1.5% cashback. If I spend under £3,500 per month, all what I get is 0.5% in cashback.
I have an Egg Money Cashback card which pays 1% regardless of the amount spent. Understandably, I’ve got concerned as it does not make sense for me to use AMEX at all.
However when I called AMEX again, their customer services assured me that the cashback is accumulative and as I have already spent more than £11k, I will be getting 1.5% in cashback until the anniversary of my card.
Still not sure, as the pervious people were quire adamant that they are right. Does anyone know better?

Its cumulative, definitely not reset every month.0

What latecomer said - it's in black and white on your statements so how the customer service people could get it wrong is slightly worrying!! Don't worry, it is definitely cumulative.0

Just had a look at my statement - there is nothing there in black in white. On page 4 it says
Spend Credited for Moneyback £ * - 0
"5% MoneyBack for the first 3 months:Within the first 3 months of account opening, spend up to £4000 will receive 5% MoneyBack. Your statement can get a littleRemember, the more you spend the more you can earn."
confusing, so to help clear the air - For every £1 spent within the first 3 months, your eligible spend will appear doubled on your
statement. After that your ongoing spend will display as normal - £1 for £1 spend.
Their statement above is also confusing as their system is tiered, ie 0.5% for under £3000, 1% for between £3000 and £10,000 and 1.5% for everythin above. How could they say that your ongoing spend will display as normal - £1 for £1 spend?

On p.4 of my statement (Amex platinum) it states, just below a box detailing my total spend for the year:Just had a look at my statement - there is nothing there in black in white. On page 4 it says"MoneyBack is calculated and credited annually at your Account Anniversary using your Total Eligible Spend.".0
