my partner's mum is caring for her husband. she has requested carer's allowance but they say she earns a little bit too much on her pension (not very high but i believe the carer's allowance has a very low criteria). she spends her days helping him with hospital appointments, help with some physio exercises etc that he cannot do on his own etc. she is worried because she says she gets no financial help. is there anything that exists? thanks in advance.

What about Disability Living Allowance? The person with the disability/illness claims for help with personal care/help with getting around (the mobility component.)
Might be worth a try and is non-means tested (so available to all who qualify, whatever their financial situation!)
It's a long form (I'm sure its meant to deter people from applying!) but worth it, if you are entitled.
Just a thought, but would obviously depend on the severity of person's health problems.
Have you tried the Benefits forum? They might be best placed to help!!20p Saver Club #33 60p/£100

 Sadly the whole system seems to be geared towards people sitting on their 4rses doing nothing! I know the carers allowance my Mum got for looking after my Dad disqualifies her from benefits she would have been entitled to now he's dead. If she had left him to it and let the state take the strain then she would be fully entitled. She helped out and is now getting penalised.
benefits website has some forums and other information...
