sending money abroad in Euros.

Options
I frequently purchase items from Europe and I wonder if any one has any information on Euro bank accounts that may be available. I will add that the amounts are usually 2-400 Euros, for which my bank would normally charge around £20 for the priviledge via bank transfer. I am looking for a cheaper alternative which does not involve sending cash in the post as I have just been bitten!! Thanks in anticipation.

Have you looked at Moneybookers? The accounts are usually operated in sterling but payments can be made in Euros. It works a bit like Paypal, but there's about a 35p charge for transfers out - exchange rates are pretty reasonable.

won't post my refer link since I don't think it will be allow. If allow or want to sign up though that method contact me offlist. (no disadvantage to you just I get 30% of the fees that you paid, but the fees are not much.) But one of the cheapest I seen when I was looking to send money to Thailand once you got it all setup is http://www.moneybookers.com/

How do the moneybookers charges and exchange rates compare with Paypal?

How do you normally pay for your purchases? If you can pay be debit and/or credit card have you looked at getting a Nationwide account and credit card?

Yes, I do have a Nationwide card, and a Saga one - but I also have a Euro current account that I want to "feed" from time to time. Currently using Paypal, but interested in anything less costly, that's why I asked how moneybookers compares.

Citbank account? Need to watch the minimum balance requirements though.
