First Camping Trip - Where should we go?

We are thinking of taking our two DS Age 9 & 6, camping for a couple of nights, as they have never tried it before. We spent a lot of time camping before the boys arrived, but have'nt done it since.

We are looking for a relatively quiet site ( no yobs, clubs etc) just somewhere they can explore and plenty of room to play, and close by to Glasgow area ( we are in EK) They have already had their holiday this year just thought a couple of days away would be nice.

Does anyone have any sugestions?

Thanks for that - Will have a wee look down that way. Seen one called the Walled Garden Caravan camping park near Girvan looked quite nice too.

Cobleland near Aberfoyle is a good one and an easy walk/bike ride into Aberfoyle for shopping, cafes, swing park, wool centre (more interesting than it sounds) and David Marshall Lodge.

loch ken caravan parks great, and really cheap. plenty of room for the weans to go running about, a huge field for camping in so you're never squashed in. free fishing for weans and you can hire a boat for £6 an hour and go about the loch.
no pubs or clubs, just a wee shop for essentials, it's spotless and it's a really friendly site.

?There is a great place at Gatehouse of Fleet called Auchenlarie. Plenty to do if its raining and it has access to a private beach if its nice. Ideal for kites (tesco do good cheap ones at £1.49) or frizbees footballs etc. Nearby is the cream of galloway ice cream factory which has various ariel slides, climbing towers etc a definate must if you are in the area. have a good time - and I hope the weather is kind to you!!

Tanglewood Caravan Park at Silloth is great. It has a small club onsite and kids are welcome. Also has a play area. We were there last year and a rowdy lot arrived in. Owner came out and started dismantling their tents around them while he waited for the police. He doesn't take any nonsense and it is a well kept quiet site.

If it`s a quite site with loads of room to play and there`s a beautiful wee site at Kirkfieldbank, just outside Lanark on the side of the Clyde. Theres no club or on site enteratinment etc. it`s on the fringes of the village for small local shopping, it has some nice walks around the area and New Lanark visitors centre is worth a look and a good day out for children. I didn`t realise how lovely it was until we visited friends who came over from Stirling for a few days in their caravan. We live in Lanark so it`s a wee bit near to take our trailer tent - but we have jokingly said we would it`s such a nice wee site.

Im just back from Silloth . Its a great little town. Harbour , life boat , huge green small , amusement arcade and a fantastic baguette shop. . . scrumptious was its name under £10 for 4 of us to have lunch and a drink. Massive car boot every Sunday and market day was Thursdays
