Try the German Railways website https://www.bahn.de, select english, near the top right and then use timetable->tickets on the left. several ways to do this. If you were booking from scratch, Eurostar all the way to brussel and then Belgian Rail [direct line to brugge [= bruges]] is the way to do it. From Lille, there may be better ways. Belgian Rail was dirt cheap about 2 years ago

If your compensation ticket is Eurostar to Lille; why not try and upgrade it to Brussels and then train it to Bruge. The Brussels - Bruge train is free according to Eurostar conditions

Yes try to change your ticket to Brussels. As alfrescodave says onward travel to any Belgian station is free. If you are stuck with a ticket to Lille the best way is to book the Eurostar onwards to Brussels then change for Brugge (about an hour and a half). On Bahn.de search for Lille Europe (the Eurostar /TGV station) rather than just Lille (city centre station).

For future reference, why is a German website the best place for info on trains running between France & Belgium?

Because it is the easiest to navigate and find information.

It's also the best for rail within the UK in my experience.

The UK sites take their starting point as selling you a ticket, rather than helping you to plan a journey, then selling you a ticket

bahn.de is extremely good for many European countries.

One hour and 20 minutes between Lille and Bruges, either on a direct train from Lille Flandres (10 minute walk from Lille Europe where the Eurostar stops) or from Lille Europe with a change at Kortrijk. Full tariff is around €30 return at Euro prices.

As Eurostar is owned by 3 train companies, UK National Rail, French SNCF and Belgian SNCB and the journey was originally between UK and France, compensation rules may only allow a journey between the UK and France which could be why Brussels doesn't figure on the list.

You can buy a Lille-Bruges ticket from SNCF, SNCB etc but you should find the cheapest ticket at full tariff currently with Rail Europe at £24 return. This is because of the lousy Sterling-Euro rate and Rail Europe. I have found them cheapest recently, only because of the poor Sterling rates.

As far as accommodation recommendations go, how many children do you have and how old are they?
