sending money abroad

i would like to send £50,000 to germany - what are the options, i.e. where is it cheapest? i supppose bank transfers might be quite expensive... thanks for some suggestions :rolleyes:

Can someone explain to me the logic of 'receiving' charges by overseas banks. Having bought Euros from a UK dealer at a good rate, I had them transfered to my account in Spain. When I checked, the receiving bank had levied a charge for the service of putting the funds in my account.

I now have Halifax accounts in the UK and Spain and transfers between them are charge-free.
