Uswitch Warning
I have today switched from EDF to Uswitch to EON and on the basis of the Uswitch site have saved £291. I don't know if the site is up to date as far as the new EDF tariffs are concerned but I am happy with the saving (I would be overjoyed if the saving is on the new EDF rates!).
My concern however is the false impression given by the Emergency Special Money Tip that I received today from Martin.
That email states "and uSwitch* gives a £40 crate of wine per switch (don't go direct)."
That appears to be innacurate. I considered the alternative methods of switching today and concluded that a £40 case of wine is worth more than the various cash offers that are available.
However that is not what you get. I would not have used Uswitch if I had known that the only incentive is a voucher for Virgin Wines that is freely available for nothing on the internet and requires you to spend £125.75 in order to qualify for a saving of £40 (the minimum spend according to the voucher is £39.99 over and above the value of the voucher but the cheapest case of wine is £59.88 and there is a charge of £5.99 for postage!).
I would definitely not have used USwitch if I had known that even that (rubbish) discount is not available to me because I have used the Virgin Wine site before!
I guess I should have been more cautious but I can't help feeling that if such enormously misleading information were propogated elsewhere in the marketplace Martin would be the first to be shouting from the rooftops about how unacceptable it is.
The net effect of today's Emergency Special Money Tip is that it has COST me at least £15!

Im not sure how 40.00 worth of wine was a better offer than 50.00 cashback thats available from the better paying cashback sites. ( was 70.00 cashback switching to EON at the end of June/early July as well)0
