From Wikipedia 'In the broadest sense, a fraud is a deception made for personal gain.'

If you want to avoid their fraud, read your meters at least every month and provide your own accurate reading to them on a regular basis. Most will let you do this online if you don't want to wait on their phone system and it takes all of 5 minutes.

No they are not "my" meters they are "their" meters. There is great pressure from the CABs to get them read by the suppliers more often

Who owns the meter is irrelevant to the fact that seeking to gain a financial advantage by using fabricated readings is wrong.. regardless of if it is you or the company who fabricates (or estimates) the reading.

Also, I agree they should read the meter more often, but if that involves putting up prices to pay for more people to do it then I'm quite happy spending 5 minutes myself every month doing it for them.

Funny, but I've never seen a supplier in court for fabricating meter readings to their own financial gain - which they do readily
You are correct though but it would never amount to anything.
