built in freeview

Options
hi
parents have just brought a new matsui 19" tv with built in freeview

they had the old tv and freeview box in the bedroom via a split box from the digital Ariel, worked perfectly for last few years,
the problem is the new tv is not showing freeview very well
picture is dark and it does not remember settings, the next time you view ...shows 0 channels.
question is
is the tv faulty? or are built in units not very good ? would they need to get a booster for the tv set
normal uk channels are ok ...BBC ITV eth
thanks

built in ones should be just as good as a normal freeview box....and as for not remembering setting maybe you need to save!?

or its just that the signal is very weak (split boxes can weaken the signal because TV ariels are not powered like sat dishes are) you could try a booster but be warned they very rarely work

try the tv downstairs see if thats any better if not then maybe its faulty
If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly

I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right

signal was fine before on old set up.
    yes settings were saved.
    wont bother with a booster
was leaning to a faulty unit myself
when i can get over ill try it in the front room before i rtn it to the shop
    thanks

Built in Freeview is every bit as good as a standalone receiver, unfortunately Matsui are at the bottom end of the market, so it may well not perform too well.

Try doing another scan, it should store channels automatically.
