laptop problem/danmec removal

hi, have dreaded danmec on laptop! my security and anti virus cant get rid of it! i downloaded a removal programme called comodo and installed it. it then set up and scanned for about 18 mins, then i started the removal process,which in turn means another long scan. so i left it doing its work as i went to bed as it seemed a long and lenghy process. well, i came into the living room to be greeted by a nice blue screen,but no startup or boot up. is this serious? have original recovery discs,its an old acer running xp? would appreciate any suggestions or tips. thanx for looking.
