Samsung Colour Laser - Killer Chip Workaround!

Hi, thought I would share this as I found it out quite by accident and it has saved me a fortune.
I run a Samsung CLP510, fantastic little colour laser printer but the cartridges have the dreaded 'killer chip' and a set costs more than the printer did new. Found out there's an easy way to over ride the 'replace cartridge' message, this allows me to run each cartridge until it's really empty, not when the chip says it's empty. There's a world of difference between the two!
When powering up the printer, press and hold down the 'Menu' key while switching on the power supply. Keep 'Menu' pressed until you see the message 'uncheck consumables mode' on the display. Job done, you don't have to do it again until you next power up the printer.
I suspect (but don't know for sure) that this may also over ride the need to replace the other machine consumables (fuser, imaging drum etc), I've been using this workaround for almost 12 months with no ill effects or loss of print quality. My printer does quite a bit of business printing so is a decent workhorse. I estimate I would have replaced each cartridge at least 3 times by now, haven't had to replace any since finding this out.
Hope this helps someone!

I'm maintaining 2 samsung clp 510 printers at work. I was trying to find a way to completely empty the toners before having to replace them when I found this forum.
The tape thing was very helpful and it had worked like a charm on one of them (big thanks are in order here). My problem is that the same method does not work on the other printer
I follow the same method, ie power down, press n hold menu key, power on while holding, but I never get the "uncheck consumable mode" message. The printer just proceeds to initializing and still shows the "replace toner" messages.
I noticed a difference between the two printers. When they power on they display on the screen some info. The one that got "fixed" displays "os 1.17" and "engine 1.18", while the other one shows "os 1.15" and "engine 1.17". I tried downloading and installing the latest firmware from the samsung website, but nothing changed.
Can anyone help? Those of you that used the tape method and worked, could you tell me which version os and engine your printer shows?
Thanks in advance.0
