Hi there,
I need some help in setting up a very simple website which i am going to blog and add local news reviews, etc.:j
The only problem is i was wondering how i can set up a website free and i also need to know will my internet have to be on all the time for it to work. this is because i have a 3GB usage and i was wondering if this would take all the usage. would it have to be on all the time?
I also want this site so i may get a little money on the side by a small bar of advertising. So if you know how to set up 1 for free and can answer if its going to take all my usage please HELP!!!
Much appreciated

hi Carl
Normally, you're ISP won't let you host your website on your own computer, so what you need to find is what is known as a "web hosting provider" do a quick search on here, and there will be plenty of suggestions. this also negates the needs to have your computer on all the time, as the website is stored on a server, which is designed for that operation.
as a web developer myself, i think there is no better way to learn how to design websites, from scratch. Learn the language, then go onto learning the dynamic and the database side of things. HOWEVER, it looks as if you want something pre-packaged, and a standard blog, rather than something unique, and made with TLC (just my opinion!)
Wordpress is good blog software, i think it is free, and you will install it on your webserver, and start using it.. then you have a website..
now, you probably can't get a professional domain name for free, (if you could, i'd be getting mine there) so you'll end up with a subdomain, or something equally as unmemorable.0 -
Thanks very much but i need some more help
So i need to find a host, will yahoo have one? how much will that cost?
i was hoping i can design a website via open office which is similar to microsoft powerpoint?
Now how would i get a professional domain name for free? even if it wasn't a professional one? Do i need a subdomain?
Thanks:dance: I am great , yes I am

Try googlepages, it is free.
I have a googlepages website. If you want to see what that looks like PM me and I will send you a link.
It is absolutely free and No, you do not have to leave your machine on all the time and it does not affect your download limits.0
