Help! Blocked modem software on new laptop security

Options
I installed new internet security software yesterday and after all going well it went into training mode when I accessed the internet. I needed to download current security definations etc. I ended up blocking my modem file and could find no way to move it to a different, less secure, category so deleted it.
Will I uninstall and start over? Will the product key work a second time? It's Kaspersky (no cd as I downloaded it).
Thanks

If the key is valid it will work again as software manufacturers know that people screw up and have to reinstall now and then. How did you block your "modem file"?
  • I didn't know it was my modem file trying to access the internet as the numbers didn't mean anything to me and the name was unfamiliar. Instead of doing things slowly I was assuming that everything was normal and clicking at normal speed. Then the modem wouldn't connect. Thanks for the reassurance about using the key again. I was worried I'd be on the phone for half a day trying to sort it out!

Just go into the program and somewhere you will see the block listed then just remove it.

I tried that, but it was hard ie impossible to
remove or change the status. I ended up just deleting it but still couldn't access the internet.

Guilty as charged :$. It was late.
Unfortunately I can't access the guide you've provided as this connection is pants. I have spent the best part of an hour looking at the help files. Wish they were helpful - very technical and not quite corresponding with the screens they refer to. All very confusing. Think I'm going back to plan A, ie uninstall and download again.

Yes that should be fine but unless you make the effort to learn how to use the firewall in the security suite, it won't be long before you encounter similar problems.

I just don't see any point installing any software package and not reading the user manual/help file info to learn how to make best use of it.
