New Vista desktop icons in the wrong place

Hi

I've been finding an annoying problem with my Vista desktop icons/files. When I copy a file to, or delete a file, my desktop it doesn't always show without me refreshing the desktop (F5). Secondly when I do refresh the desktop the new icone nearly always appears at the left hand side just under my computer instead of at the right hand side at the end of all the other icons. Also sometimes some of the icons seem to randomly have moved around which can get really irritating when I know where they should be.

Does anyone else have this problem and does anyone know how to fix it?

I am running Vista home premium with all the latest Microsoft patches.

When you right click the desktop, and choose view, do you have autoarrange or align to grid checked?

windows default for icons is the left hand side of the screen..

mac's default for icons is the right hand side of the screen.

it is what is built into the defaults of the operating system, just click, drag, and move it to where you want...

IMO, anything more than 3 icons on my desktop, i start shaking.. it makes my desktop look a mess!

Sorry for the delay in replying. I have auto-arrange and align to grid turned on.

My icons are normally arranged (from top left reading down) my computer, my documents, recycle bin, everything else...

The problem is sometimes new icons do not appear until I refresh the desktop and then they appear just under my computer, before my documents. Also some icons appear to randomly move to just under my computer. It's just really annoying :mad:

it is because you have auto arrange on things move, it moves them AUTOmatically...

as for the refresh thing... its a "feature" of vista!
