Anyone know anything about this group? They guarantee to supply me cheaper fuel without changing from British Gas. So far they have changed my supply to next door because the guy who filled in the form put 1 instead of 3 and it is my fault because I signed the form to say I had given the right information. No 1 now have to apply to have their supply put back to British Gas. I have to reapply...but should I?

:confused::o

If you sign up with another supplier you will be moving from British Gas whoever they are.The new supplier will bill you but your keep the same meter, pipes etc.

The UW only guarantee to be cheaper then BG Standard Tariff. You can do better use a site like www.energyhelpline.com to get some ideas. Its considered a good idea to go for a capped tariiff if possible.

We had to take Utility wharehouse as they were suppling the fone & electric at our new house (no gas here)

Checked their rates against British Gas online tarrifs - Clik 4 it was, then & they were much much dearer & they also applied a monthly standing charge, so switched to BG as soon as we could.

Unfortunatly, the readings given by the previous householders didn't match our 'take over' readings, so confussion there, plus they continued billing us even after we switched - for 3 months, in fact!

They also sent us debtors letters from a collection agency called Vile Collections - still not sorted!!

But BG is the cheaper option - or will be eventually!!

If what "the guy" told you were true, don't you think all BG customers would be flocking to them?

They do mislead to get people to sign up (eg their quotes never include an additional monthly charge all their members have to pay of between £1.76 and £3 every month to be members of ths "club"), and your guy certainly mislead you.

Have a search in this forum for threads on the utility warehouswe (aka telecom+), and you may feel you have had a lucky escape, though what you have done to your neighbour by mistakenly getting him signed up to them is something you will have on your conscience for the rest of your life, which you will just have to learn to live with!

    pay your bills then

    Nice and constructive.
Good to see that a UW ambassador is suggesting that you pay bills to UW that they have no right to charge you.

The utility warehouse saves you money don't listen to that other person ..
Do you read the :which: mag....they are very recommended by them....How they save you money is that they don't advertise which costs millions off pounds all the other companys who do advertise have to get that money back thats one of the reasons why the gas/elec are costing more money...

Which magazine may "very recommend" Harrods as a good place to go shopping, I'd rather buy stuff cheaper elsewhere though.

The way Utility warehouse operates is questionable to say the least, lots of hidden charges (monthly club fee etc) that arent included in their "comparisons" where they only compare with standard tariffs. Their distibutors often lie and bend the truth to get sales and even resort to spamming internet forums with their rubbish in a desperate attempt to get people signed up.

    Its sad, very sad.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
