with the correct widescreen proportions at £598 including delivery, comes to £540 using voucher codes from pricedash.com Better to pay the extra £30 and get a widescreen. Also definately agree about HD, unless your planning on paying sky for the service you can use this TV for a good 5 years with no problems by which time HD tv's will be half price.
Looks good - I think the 15:9 issue is limited to 30" LCDs AFAIK but someone may know otherwise.
As it is in Currys, it also gives an opportunity to have a look at one in the flesh before spending your hard earned!
Thanks

Sorry John your right no 10% voucher there but they have £50 off £500 spend, hence would make tv £549. What is it your looking to buy ? I'll keep my eye open for you ...0

Cheers RajaStyle, just wanted to make sure.
Wanted to see if the £100 off £1000 and 10% off (Egg money credit card) could be made any better

No, I've seen quite a few other LCD TVs that are 15:9.
The Humax ones are for example.
Though it depends how it handles the picture and if you have a choice, eg between losing the edges of the picture and having black lines.0 -

It's not about being a technophobe.
No one is exactly sure what the HD standard is going to be and it is possible that the one that Sky adopt will not necessarily be the one that is finally settled upon.
The technology is still changing and improving for the cost of the top of the market HD compatible one now, you could probably buy a cheap one now and then another better than the current top notch in five years time.
I know people who paid hundreds of pounds for DVD recorders a few years ago, and those recorders now are not as good as ones you can now buy for less than £100.
Of course it is always a risk that that might not happen, but the probability is that LCD screen prices will continue to drop till they are around the price of CRTs now.0
