Things to do in Brixham ...

... when you're brain-dead.

Thanks to the combined efforts of Incapabiity Brown, his (relieved) pet badger, the oil and energy companies, the best I can manage this year is a long weekend in Brixham from 29/8 to 1/9 inclusive.

To stop me spending all my time on here via an unsecured wireless broadband connection, are there any more MSE things to see and do in the area?

As a culinary challenge, I do plan to try and eat only as many different types of fish as possible. "This weekend, I shall be mainly eating ... fish".
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

You can go to the aquarium (but you can't eat the fish there). There's Totnes Motor Museum, Dartington glass centre, Paignton Zoo, Babbacombe Model Village...and that's just for starters.

There's so much to do in this area that you'd need a fortnight to scratch the surface. Have a good weekend :D

Brixham takes me back!!!! I lived my teen years there :j . If I was going on holiday, I would eat fish and chips wile sitting around the harbour. Go on a boat trip. Visit the beach with the break water/pier - last time I was there a diving school had set up shop so we watched them for a wile.
There is many places you can pay to go into - hay! it is a tourist resort!
If I were to choose one place to visit it would be Cockington village, just inside Torquay. Lovely place to stroll around with thatched cotages. pony and trap rides, have a pub lunch?
Trago mills is a large outlet store in Devon with farm animals, play ground in the grounds.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.

Totnes Motor Museum sounds good: I am a bit of a petrolhead. I'd forgotten all about Trago Mills! Berry Head sounds good for the Sunday.

Cockington might be a bit too sad, though; we always went there with the old dog.

  • i lived in brixham for 10 years and my mom still lives there.
in summer they usually have a heritage festival so bands on the quay etc.
kids like to go crabbing on the marina, if you like walking go up past the berry head hotel and walk the coast path to mansands or st marys beach, even as far as dartmouth and go across on the ferry.lovely place to spend the day.
totnes of course if you want to relive the 60,s.
the boat from brixham to torquay even sells booze lol so lovely way to travel and get a tan, not much more than the bus and quicker too!
if you are into the paranormal take a walk to churston court on monday evening, coast path left past the quay, bit of light banter with dave who runs T.I.P in a lovely setting and a chance to discuss anything xfileish:o
if you like fish then a trip on a boat to catch your own or buy some from the fish market on market day, the fishmongers shut down:eek:
the weatherspoons is a good place to feed the kids if any and daves chippy, on the opposite side, just up from there is nice.
    anymore info, just ask.
