How soon can you change...?
I moved into my flat at the beginning of the month and stupidly signed up with Scottish Power, effectively continuing the contract from a previous flatmate. Now I hear all about capping. Should I look for a fixed electricity deal straight away...? Is it okay to switch my electricity just a few weeks after getting it with Scottish Power...?

You could have started the switch process as soon as you had given your details to Scottish Power. You only have to remain with a supplier for 28 days, but remember if you are locked into a special / fixed price tariff there may be exit fees to pay.0
