Can UK television be used in Australia ?

My mate is off to live in Oz in a couple of months and asked me if his large flat screen LCD would work over there ?
So, not being sure which system they use over there, I decided to ask the experts !

would it not be cheaper for him to buy 1 over there, it would cost alot to transport it over there, is it a big one

I agree. We lived there for a few years, took ours with us and ended up buying new ones when we got there.

It's a pretty new TV and he's got a huge container to fill up........Will take hardly any room up !
Does that mean that it will work in Oz ?
