sat nav maps nuvi 250

I bought the nuvi 250 with continental maps ,but now find I need Florida maps .The Garmin site lists them at £100 I find that too expensive for my pocket,what I would like to know can you download the maps from a copy or transfer to a sd card and then use it I have had a disc given to me and an sd card lent to me with copied maps but I dont want to jigger the sat nav if I use them does anyone know if its safe to do so ,any information would be appreciated thanks.

Garmin have an unlocking system for all of their routable maps.
I'm not certain ~exactly~ how it works, but it seems to include a mechanism that ensures that a map can only be unlocked for a specific unit serial number.
I don't think you'll do any harm - you simply won't be able to unlock the map.0 -
Hi,thanks thats what i had heard but the sd card someone is lending is a copy and it works on his garmin 250.The disc is supposed to work too again a copy ,but the last thing I want is to freeze the unit and have to send it backARGGGGG0

Have a look an amazon.co.uk you can gat garmin maps for North america for around £70. Still expensive, but a bit cheaper.0
