Length of contract

With my internet there is a 12 month contract. Does the same sort of thing happen with gas and electic? I have only been on Scottish Power for a few months and am thinking of changing.

    You can change every month if you want but the contract may have some exit clause if you are on some form a special deal which was offered on the basis of a minimum period.
