Help with Guildwars game?

Hi my son has a laptop with vista and for his birthay i gave him Guildwars. However his laptop has the minimum amount of RAM but the game is very slow .How can we get around this,as when he loads and plays it,it's very slow.

Is it slow during online play or just during normal game play?
The servers get very busy, and this can cause lag when in cities.
Some more ram never hurt anyone though.

i'd agree....depending on which version of vista it alone needs from 512mb of RAM before you even consider running games & apps..and depends if your system has a shared graphics card (on board one) this can pinch some ram & make the system slower

Turn some of the graphics down, GW is pretty good for running on old pc's.

how about turning the video options down as well, this worked for me when WoW was going a bit slow on my pc

Played this since release but not much in the last few months i gather the servers have not been so stable of late last weekend i couldnt log on one evening. Loading BIG towns such as kamadan, Kaineng Center, Lions Arch, or Ascalon can take awhile due to the amount of people present at times.

To change the graphics press F11 when your character is loaded and select the graphics tab. Use the slider to turn visual quality to "fastest" this will turn all the graphics down to minimal settings. Unchecking the enable post-process check box near the bottom may also help you out.
