Train from Salou to Barcelona

Me, hubby and 2 kids are off to Salou next week. I was just wondering if anyone knows how much it costs for return day trip to Barcelona on the train?

Thanks in advance.

Use the regular bus service, i think it was about 16 euros. Catch it by the Hotel Las Vegas.

For the Nou Camp you get off before you get into the city. If not then go into the center and catch one of the tour buses and appreciate the beauty of Barcelona.

Barcelona is a great city, but I don't know anyone who went there for any length of time without being robbed, should be safe on a tour bus though.

should take you to a page showing journeys from Salou to Barca, takes 1 hour 10 mins and will be more comfortable than a bus.

Prices appear to start around 7 euros.

I'd recommend going to Sitges rather than Barca if its just a nice day trip you're after.

And don't worry about the robbery comment, sure there are people in Barca who would pick pocket you given the chance but it's no worse than other cities including London.

I'm a single parent and I holiday in Santa Susanna (down the coast from Salou) every year. Although my teenage daughter can't bear to be parted from the pool and beach, I insist that we spend one day on a trip to Barcelona. I always get the train to Barca and have found it to be comfortable, swift and safe. So much so, that last year, I did away with airport transfers and saved loads of money by getting to and from the airport on the train.

Sadly, I've heard stories about people having things stolen, however I've either been very vigilant or very lucky, because whenever we're in Barca on our day trips, I've never had any problems (touch wood) and always felt very safe.

It's a good idea to go on the tour buses, however be prepared because depending on the time of day / year, the queues to get on can be quite lengthy.

You can ignore my warning of robberies in Barcelona as Martmonk advises, please come back after your holiday and tell us your experience. You might also have a look at the queues at the British consulate, mostly people who've ignored similar warnings.

Thanks, that was info I was after. Hubby and I went to Barcelona together a couple of years ago to celebrate a birthday but we wanted to take the children to see some of the bits that would appeal to them.

We did the museums and galleries when we went but want to show kiddies the street artists along Las Ramblas, cable cars etc.

Will look out some info on Sitges. Thanks

See the attached link for info on trains to Barcelona http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/transport/transfer-barcelona-salou.html

Barcelona is a wonderful city. Be aware who is around you especially on Las Ramblas. We were not pick pocketed on our 2 stays in the city. Would recommend the open top bus tours to see the sights as you can hop on and off if you want to look at anything closer.

Sitges is a slightly upmarket resort town which has a couple of beaches which seem to be for men only!!! We did find a family area at the end of the beach eventually.

We visited Tarragona by train from Salou. It's a lot nearer, and well worth a wander around.

We also spent two days in Barcelona - one at each end of the holiday - and also used the train to avoid paying for transfers. I didn't feel vulnerable in Barcelona either and we didn't suffer any mishaps.

I cannot see why anyone leaves things in a pocket which allows them to be pickpocketed - avoidance is better than paranoia.

    Thanks for that link. Ideal.

We've been careful in Barcelona too and not been targeted.
